About this blog

Welcome to the wonderful world of historiography!

I’m a post doc researcher in history at the University of Helsinki and my particular interests are in modern European historiography, the cultural and social history of scholarly practices and communities, and in book history. In short, I am hooked on academic eccentricity, oddball historians and their bizarre adventures in the fascinating world of archives. Currently, I work on a project which explores how historians used different paratexts (footnotes, titles etc.) in their histories in late-Victorian Britain and I can promise you, paratexts were (and still are) a lot more exciting than they might first appear to be.

I hope you will enjoy my random postings about the peculiarities of historical research now – and mostly – then.
